The winter is a challenging time of year for all kinds of wildlife at Dovrefjell. The days are short and the temperature might drop until minus 35 degrees. Please don’t worry, its not that cold throughout the whole winter.
The combination of the icy landscapes and the low angle of the sun, creates a magical display of colors in the sky. The sky often turns shades of pink, purple and orange, casting a warm glow over the snow-covered scenery.
Blizzards at Dovrefjell can be quite intense. Strong winds, heavy snowfall and limited visibility. The snowflakes swirl around you, creating a mesmerizing whiteout. If you are prepared and have the right gear, a winter mountain blizzard can be a unique opportunity to witness the raw power of nature.
For us the winter high season, at Dovrefjell, is between November 1st until 20th of March. After these dates it is still a beautiful scenery depending on the weather.
