Musk ox

In the summer, musk oxen roam the tundra and grassy areas, enjoying the warmer weather.

During the summer months, musk oxen shed their winter fur, revealing a shorter, lighter coat underneath. This shedding helps them stay cool in the warmer temperatures. You can also see and photograph new born calfs. They are super cute, like small teddybears.

The musk oxen are social animals and live in herds, which can consist of both males and females. In the summer, you might see musk oxen engaging in social behavior, like grooming each other or playing together. The population at Dovrefjell are around 240 animals during the summer months.

Moskusguiden offers private safaris and photo tours on request during summer.

Summer 2024 we will offer tented camp safari, in the land of the musk oxen. Sounds exciting? Feel free to contact us.

Maybe you want to take your family on a wildlife adventure. We guided guests from 5-80 years old  with good results during the summer.
