Other species of birds and mammals we normally guide on during summer.
The golden plover, ptarmigan, the northern wheatear and stoat are birds and animals we most likely are lucky to see during our summer hikes.
The golden plover have a striking appearance with their golden-brown feathers, speckled with black and white markings. They have a distinct call that sounds like a melodic whistle. We always see and hear several of them while hiking at Dovrefjell.
The ptarmigan are well adapted to the cold environments. Their thick feathers turn from white to a brownish color to camouflage and blend with the rocky terrain.
The northern wheatear are small birds that breed in the Arctic tundra and spend their winters in Africa. They have distinctive black and white feathers, and the males have a beautiful blue-grey color on their backs.
The stoat are a small and agile mammal that belongs to the weasel family. They have a slender body, short legs and a long tail. They have a beautiful fur coat that changes color with the seasons.
Owls and Moose, are always fun to photograph! There is a high chance you might observe them during summer.
Our garden hide. The squirrels are cute and active all year. During summer they have a beautiful brownish coat that make them blend into their surroundings. We just love our squirrels.
